Healthy Eating Hypnosis ~ New

I just finished creating a new hypnosis session. I'm really excited about it! I've been wanting to make it for quite a while. I made it because I want to help people focus on eating better. Ever seen Super Sized? That movie really changed my perception of fast food!

I am continuously stunned by the obesity epidemic in America. Hopefully this session will help people eat healthier and in turn influence their friends and family to eat better =)

How to Find Your Target Market and Sunday Sale

Lately, I have been focusing on different advertising markets. I've been trying to find an affordable, predictable avenue for advertising my hypnosis CD's. Unfortunately, the online market is saturated with hypnosis sellers. I believe I have found a niche in the handmade market because I actually make all me CD's/mp3's at home and really spend a lot of time developing the hypnosis scripts I record.

Recently, I decided to spend a lot of money on a very popular blog. It seemed to me that if there are a lot of readers then my selling success, statistically, will go up. Well, I'm not finding that to be the case. I've had about 9 clicks in 20,000 views! Whew, what now?

I keep hearing that you need to identify your target market. I have been debating whether or not I should send a follow up survey after people leave feedback for my hypnosis cd's. After researching this I have discovered that I really need to send a survey. I found a few pointers on how to identify your target market through a survey.

The two most important areas are Demographics and Psychographics.

Demographics should cover; Age, gender, income, education level, stage of life cycle (married, single, divorced, etc), ethnic and religious background.

Psychographics should cover; Lifestyle questions. Are the consumers trendy, conservative, travelers? What social class do your consumers belong to? Upper, middle, lower? Are they opinion leaders or opinion followers. What are their activities, interests, attitudes and beliefs. How do they spend their spare time?

I found a few sample survey's online and I'm going to develop a survey that can give me a better picture of my target market. I've decided I will email my customers after they leave feedback and offer a free gift if they complete the survey. I'm thinking my meditation mp3 download would be a nice gift for participating.

Youtube Video Montage!

I just ran across the coolest site. At One True Media you can create video montages for free. I decided to create one for my hypnosis CDs. Then I posted it (for free) on Youtube. They also give you the html code for blogspot.

Meditation ~ 15 Minutes to Serenity

I try to meditate on a daily basis. Most days, I accomplish this goal =) Meditating allows me to take time to forget about my daily stressors. Today, I decided to create a meditation CD/mp3 for others to use to incorporate meditation into their lives.

Here are a few pointers for effective meditation:

Sit quietly for several minutes, either cross-legged on the floor or on a chair (without leaning against the back of the chair). Be sure that your spine is erect but not to the point where it's uncomfortable. Fold your hands gently together in your lap or place your palms down on your knees. As you sit in a meditating posture, sense your weight being supported by the floor or chair and allow the whole sensation of your body to enter your awareness and come to life.

Weight Watchers, The gift that keeps on giving....

Back in 2000 I decided to get healthy. I chose to start exercising and to lose weight. I joined Weight Watchers at Work back then and it really changed my life. I learned how to change my relationship with food. I learned that I was eating to cope with my emotions. I learned that if I keep track of what I'm putting in my mouth I will lose weight and stay thin.

It took me about nine months to become a life-time member. I am currently five pounds up from my life time weight goal. The past few years the 5 pounds has become quite annoying. (I know you're probably thinking wah...5 pounds) but somewhere in my mind I am supposed to be at that life-time goal from 2000. And I know that five can lead to ten to fifteen.

So... back in November I decided to sign back up for my monthly pass and to get back into meetings. I actually altered my weight loss hypnosis CD to encourage me to keep going to meetings. lol. All the while, thinking I need to get back down to my life-time goal. Well, I think maybe nine years later my body has just decided to stay at this weight! Since November I'm down three... then up three... then down then up. It's becoming annoying. I'm wondering if I should just change my life-time weight goal and be happy with where I am.

With all that said, I'm really enjoying going to the meetings. They keep my goals fresh in my mind. I'm going to keep going just to keep on track. Who knows maybe I'll get back to that old weight again...maybe not.

One very cool thing about my meeting is that they give away prizes each week. Last week I won a Weight Watchers cookbook called "Hit the Spot, 140 Savory, Crispy, Spicy and Sweet Recipes You'll Love". If we win something at the meeting we have to try out the recipes or products and come back and tell the group about it. I thought I would share mine here.

I made an awesome recipe:

Overstuffed Avocado-BLT Pizza

1 18 oz prebaked thin whole-wheat pizza crust
3 tablespoons reduced-fat mayonnaise
3 cups lightly packed mixed baby salad greens
1 tomato diced
1 avocado, halved, pitted, peeled and diced
4 Slices of turkey bacon, crisp and cooked and coarsely crumbled.

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees
Place the pizza crust on a baking sheet. Bake until crisp about 10 minutes. Transfer the crust to a wire rack and let cool slightly.
Spread the mayonnaise evenly over the crust. Top with the remaining ingredients and cut into 8 wedges.

3 points a piece.

It was soooo yummy!!

Bring on the Theta Waves baby!

Okay, so I am a hypnosis geek. I love reading about Milton Erickson and hypnotic metaphors that promote change in people. That said, I'm really excited about my newest find. For quite a while not I have wanted to incorporate background music into my hypnosis Cd's and mp3 downloads. Occasionally someone will ask, "Do these Cd's have background music?" I always reply with something like, "no, I've chosen not to use music in the backgrounds." The reason I don't have music is really because of copyright issues. I can't use someone else's music and sell the Cd's as my "own" creation. Of course I have looked around for royalty-free background music. I can never decide....nature music, new age music, harps etc.??? When I occasionally embark on the search for royalty free music I am so shocked by the prices, I just decide it's not worth it. #34.99 for a :15 second clip! Then I would have to repeat the same sound loop over and over! Boring.

Anyway, a couple of nights ago I found a royalty-free website that offers a 60 minute mp3 of hypnotic background music!! (for $44.00 and it's royalty free forever) The best part is this music has a pulsing beat that helps the brain reach the "Theta" State.

Theta Brainwaves (4-7 cps) occur in sleep and are dominant in our highest state of meditation. Normally, you will only experience theta waves as you drift off to sleep, during some dreaming, and as you return from the depths of Delta sleep. The pictures you perceive as you drift off and awaken arise from theta consciousness. During hypnosis achieving Theta is desirable, it's like you are in a waking dream. In this state, you are extremely receptive to information heard from a hypnotherapist. I spent most of last night adding this new age Theta wave background music to my hypnosis recordings.


I am excited about this for many reasons. Mostly because this will help my recordings be even more effective. Everyday I get such positive feedback and people share their wonderful success stories with me and I can't wait to hear how my customers feel about the effects of this new tool.
I'm also excited about the ever-evolving process that continues to make my recordings better and better. It's really amazing how much my recordings have changed. First, I had four topics offered for sale in my ETSY shop. Now I have close to thirty and many more to come.

I look back to when I decided to offer my recordings online, since then I've figured out how to convert my wave files into mp3's and then how to offer downloads and now how to add multi layered tracks to voice recordings. Well, I must give credit to my boyfriend as well. Without his help it might have taken me years to learn how to cut and past voice recordings, to convert mp3's and now to add music tracks to already recorded hypnosis sessions. Thank you Ken!
